Tuscany Triple Triathletes,
We hope you had as much fun participating as we did watching you! It was so amazing to watch 165 happy kids and parents, swim, bike, and run across the finish line!
Thank you to Sharon Anderson for coordinating all the volunteers who made this such a successful event.
We had a lot of kids this year to get through the check-in process, which got a little CRAZY, so we really appreciate your patience.
A huge thank you to our photographers for sharing their talents and documenting the night!
THANK YOU:

Important Race Day Information

The Tuscany Triple Triathlon is just around the corner.  The event will be on Monday, July 16th  in the Tuscany Neighborhood at the clubhouse and ending at the park off of N Basilica Way.  We are so excited to have so many participants this year.  We have 152 kids registered between the ages of 3 and 12.

Below is some very important information for you as parents to read and go over with your child.  With this many participants it is important everyone knows the format for the race so we can have a smooth, successful event.

Please review and sign the waiver (see link below).  This a very important waiver parents/guardians must read, sign and return at packet pick up or on race day. Your child will not be able to participate without this waiver signed and returnedJ.  Yes we know you checked the box when you registered on Spondoro but we still need a paper copy.
Please read carefully.  If you have further questions or concerns, please contact us at tuscanytriple@yahoo.com.    Thanks Jen and Celeste

Important information for Triathlon Participants and Parents

Packet Pickup Sunday, July 15th 6-8pm

Packet Pickup will be on Sunday, July 15th from 6-8pm at Celeste Smith’s home 3830 S Basilica Way.   At packet pickup each participant will receive a packet with their t-shirt, race number and pins, rules, course map and goody bag.  Also at packet pickup, you can turn in your liability waiver and we can answer questions.  Your child does not have to be present at packet pickup.  If you are unable to pick up your packet please let us know by calling Celeste at 344-2940.

Race Day Check-In Monday, July 16th at Tuscany Clubhouse

Check in is at 5:30 pm inside the Clubhouse.

During check in you will turn in your liability waiver if you haven’t already done so J.  Checking in also lets us know you are here ready to participate.  Please come ready to swim and have your race number pinned to the front of your T-shirts.

Body Marking will also be done during check in.  Your child’s race number (found in race packet) will be marked on his/her leg and arm.  These markings will be used to identify your child’s race number at the start of the swim.

Triathlon Format

The race will begin at the pool, transition to bike and then transition to the run.  To alleviate congestion in the pool, only swimmers and parents who are assisting swimmers and are on deck will be allowed in the pool.  One adult may assist the participant in transitioning from swim to bike and from bike to run.

Transition Area

What is the Transition Area?

In the sport of triathlon the Transition Area is where you move from swim to bike to run.  The athlete passes through the Transition Area twice in the event.

Where are the Transition Locations?

The swim to bike transition area for the 9-12 year olds is in the Anderson’s Driveway (green house to the north of the Clubhouse).  For 3-8 year olds, the swim to bike transition area is in the clubhouse parking lot.

The bike to run transition is in the park on N Basilica in the designated area marked with signs. Once you reach the bike to run transition area, bikers will dismount bike and walk to designated area to park.  Please use minimum amount of space to place bike and helmet.

What happens in the Transition Area?

Individual spots will not be assigned, but every athlete should claim a spot within the area designated for their age group.  In the swim to bike transition is where his/her bike, helmet, shoes/socks, race t-shirt, towel and other needed stuff will be located.  Athletes should set up their equipment 15 min prior to their assigned start time.  To make sure everyone has room in the transition area, each athlete should use only the minimum amount of space required to place their equipment.  After the swim, participants should put on their race t-shirts.  Girls are welcome to slip shorts on over their suit.  The time spent in the transition area is counted in the overall time.  Transition split times will not be noted.  Be as fast as reasonable – but don’t forget the important stuff (bike helmet and shoes tied).

Following the race, please go and pick up your personal items in both transition areas.  Put your name on bike helmets, floatation devices and other aids as needed.

Race Times

Race times will not be officially tracked this year.  There will be a running clock at the start and finish.  Parents will need to note the stop and finish times.

Triathlon Parking

If you live with in Tuscany we ask that you walk/ride bikes to the Clubhouse to reduce traffic.  If you are driving to the event you can drop off your bikes and athletes at the Clubhouse and then please park near the park on Basilica and then walk up to Clubhouse.

Race Photography

Participants will be photographed at various times during their race to capture this fun event.  Photos will be posted to DropBox and a link will be emailed to you so you can download photos in high resolution.   You are welcome to take your own photos as well.

Awards

Each participant will receive a finisher’s medal upon completion of the race!! There will also be a drawing for various prizes from our sponsors.  At the end of the race, runners please rip off the bottom of your number and place in the bowl to be eligible for the drawing.  There will also be chocolate milk and other snacks for participants

Sponsors & Volunteers

We owe a huge thanks to our sponsors and volunteers. This event would not be possible without their assistance.  Please look over our Sponsor sheet and remember them when you need their professional services.  Special thanks to Sharon Anderson and Kelly Vestal for their work in coordinating the volunteers and assistance in carrying out the triathlon.  Thanks to the many volunteers for their help.

Timing for 2012 Race

This year Spondoro.com will be helping us time our race.   There will be large running clocks at the start and end of the race.  Parents or guardians will be in charge of tracking their children's times.  They will need to watch and record their own start and finish times.  Times will not be posted this year at the clubhouse.  For those who like the idea of knowing their times this will be a more accurate way to track times.  The Tuscany Triple is designed not so much for pure competition but rather to encourage an active lifestyle and the opportunity to "tri" new things
